Today is cookie decorating in E107 during lunch periods.

Girls' Basketball is playing at home today vs. Niles North. The program will host a canned food night at the game to provide donations to the Des Plaines Food Pantry during the holiday season. Please come support the girls' basketball program, and consider donating to the food pantry to help support our community. Freshman play at 6:15 pm, Frosh/Soph play at 5:00pm, JV play at 5:30pm and Varsity plays at 7:00pm.

CONGRATULATIONS: The Maine West speech team competed this past Saturday in the JV Turkey Tourney at Schaumburg High School. The entire team performed admirably, and Anna Tooley placed 5th in Humorous Interpretation! Congratulations to the Maine West Speech Team!

We recently learned that two Maine West musicians have earned All-State Honors. Addison Stutheit has placed into the All-State Choir and Addie Webb has placed into the Future Music Educators program. This honor distinguishes these two musicians as among the best in the state! Addison and Addie - we are so proud of you!

MUSICAL AUDITIONS:  Audition Clinics for this year's hilarious musical comedy, "Young Frankenstein" will take place after school today in the Choir Rm (R207). No previous experience required. AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB:  All students interested in learning American Sign Language, please join us Friday morning at 7:45 in the back of the Library.

BADMINTON:  Warriors, it is that time of year to get out your badminton rackets and come out to the first badminton open gym on Friday from 6:30-7:30 am in spec gym. Everyone is invited to come play. We have the rackets and birdies. Just bring yourself.

STUDENTS: The Fine Arts Department is hosting a Media Career Day open to ALL students on Saturday, October 22nd, from 9:00am until 1:00pm. Students will meet at Maine West for breakfast and will hear from a panel of speakers from Marquee Sports Network, Shine FM and Pinpoint Media. At 10:00am, students will take a bus to Noise Floor Studios to learn about careers in audio post production. This is an excellent opportunity for any Maine West student to learn about careers in the media industry. See Ms. Orr in R209 for a permission slip.

KARAOKE PARTY: All students are invited to attend a Karaoke party hosted by the choir program after school on Tuesday, October 18th from 3:30-5pm in the Lower Commons. Please join us for some food, entertainment and an all around great time.

PI SIGMA PI:  Pi Sigma Pi Social Science Honors Society will take its club yearbook picture on Tuesday morning, October 18th, at 7:45 a.m. in the Lower Commons. We will also discuss upcoming service opportunities and other new business. Make sure to arrive on time to be in the picture.

MU ALPHA THETA (NATIONAL MATH HONOR SOCIETY):  If you are a hard-working and talented math student in 10th, 11th or 12th grade, Mu Alpha Theta is the club for you! The Maine West chapter of this National Honor Society strives to honor students who excel and work hard in their math classes. Check out our fliers on the bulletin boards throughout the school for links to Mu Alpha Theta eligibility and registration. Registration fee is $10 for new members. Returning members do not have to pay again. Senior Honor Cords are $6. Registration is due by October 21st.

BOYS SWIM AND DIVE: Boys Swim and Dive Season is coming up soon. The pre-season meeting will be on Tuesday October 25th at 3:15 pm in the pool. No experience necessary. Learn a lifelong skill or get in shape for another sport. Register now to enjoy.

FALL COMEDY:  This year's fall comedy, Drop Dead! opens this week! Don't miss this hilarious murder mystery that takes the phrase "the show must go on" to a deadly new level.  Performances run Thursday, through Saturday at 7pm in the Maine West Auditorium. Due to limited capacity, students are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance online at mainewestdrama.org or in the bookstore. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets will also be available at the door.

GYMNASTICS: Interested in a winter sport? Want to learn to tumble and swing?  Come check out Gymnastics at our open gym next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:00 in A-wing gym. No experience needed.  Questions, See Coach Harrison in the Main office.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Girls' Basketball will have open gym on Wednesday after school from 3:40-4:40 pm in spec gym.
