CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to the 35 Maine West DECA members who competed at the regional competition in Rosemont last Friday. A special shout out to the following DECA members who won a medal for being an overall top 3 in their category: Clara Cupuro, Dawid Cznarik, Steven Sevic, Bailey Saunders, Juhi Soni, Zaid Usman and Malaika Zaidi.

STUDENTS:  If you love to dance and want a chance to perform on the Maine West Stage, there will be a dance intramural coming up on Friday, February 22nd. Dancers will learn a hip hop dance to perform in the orchesis dance show.  Come be a part of this awesome event.  See you all on Friday, February 22.

PING PONG:  Ping Pong Intramural's will start on Monday, February 4 in H106 from 3:20-5:30 pm. It is open to any student that is interested in having some fun. No experience necessary. Feel free to bring a friend to hit around with. No equipment needed. You can come and go as you please.

SENIORS:  Are you considering attending Oakton Community College next Fall? Oakton staff will be in the CCRC on Friday, February 8 during lunch periods to help you apply to Oakton Community College or answer any questions you have. Registration is required.  Please check your email for the RSVP form or see Mr. Dailey to sign up.

BASEBALL:  Attention all prospective freshmen and sophomore baseball players! If you are interested in playing baseball this year, there is an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 30th at 3:20 in L-101. If you cannot attend, please email Coach Randazzo for more information.

GIRLS BADMINTON:  There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing badminton on Wednesday, January 30th. The meeting will happen at two different times, before school at 7:40 am or after school at 3:25 in room A209. You can attend either one. Both meetings will last 10 minutes and cover information necessary for tryouts and the upcoming season. Please email Mr. Murin if you have any questions.

STUDENTS:  The MCYAF town hall meeting project was rescheduled.  Join us for the information and kick-off meeting on Sunday, January 27 from 1-3:30 pm at Maine South's principal's conference room.  There will be pizza for participants.  All students, 8th through 12th grade are invited to participate.  This year's topic is the legalization of marijuana.  For more information contact Dr. Teri Collins at 847-858-7090.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2019

CONGRATULATIONS:  At the IHSA Bowling Sectional this past Saturday, junior David Roscoe bowled well enough to qualify for the state tournament this coming Friday and Saturday. David had five of his six games over 200, averaging 212.5 for the day. He rolled a high game of 246 and will represent Maine West this weekend. Good Luck, David.

We welcome all levels (8th -12th grade) of students to participate in this project and students can earn a minimum of 20 service hours.  Any interested student should attend the first meeting on Jan 20th or contact Dr. Teri Collins at 847-858-7090.

Due to the start of the track season, after school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the fitness center will only be open to athletes who are accompanied by a coach.

MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2019

CONGRATULATIONS:  Saturday, 3 Maine West students took part in the IHSA Bowling Regional competition. All three, Riley Griffin, Vincent Parcelli and David Roscoe represented themselves and Maine West extremely well. David Roscoe took second place in the regional, averaging 212 for the six games and qualified to bowl again this Saturday in the Sectional competition. Congratulations to all three and good luck David.

STUDENTS:  It is not to late too sign up to donate blood. We are looking for all blood types. If you don't know your blood type, you will find out after the blood drive. It is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15 from 9:30-2:30. Anyone 16 years old or older is allowed to donate.

HARRY POTTER CLUB:  The Harry Potter club will meet today after school in the LRC in front of the fireplace. Come chat about the latest Fantastic Beasts movie.

BOOK CLUB:  Book Club will meet Friday after school from 3:30-4:15 pm in the LRC in front of the fireplace. Please come join us for snacks and a chat about the books you read over break.

The blood drive is on Tuesday, January 15th from 9:30-2:30 pm. Any 16 years old needs a permission slip signed by a parent. We hope you start the new year out right by helping save lives!

WELCOME BACK!


This year's fall play, "Peter and the Starcatcher" has been selected to perform at state. Missed it the first time around? No worries. Come support the cast TONIGHT at 7 pm when they will remount the show for FREE as a send-off performance ahead of the state festival. Break a leg cast and crew.
