BALKAN CLUB:  Attention all Balkan club members,we will meet after school today in C120 and will be taking our Yearbook Photo, email Mrs.Kljajic if you have any questions.

GYMNASTICS:  Interested in learning gymnastics? Have you mastered how to walk across the beam and want to learn more? Come check out the gymnastics team.  Come to open Gymnastics today and tomorrow in A-Wing gym after school from 3:30-5pm. Season starts November 6 at 3:30pm. No experience required and No cuts. POP UP ART SHOW:  Do you like to paint but aren't taking an art class? Want a tour of the new art studios? Come be a part of our first POP UP ART SHOW. The art department is looking for 100 students to create a small painting on canvas during lunch periods on Thursday for our first annual POP UP ART SHOW. Current art students will be passing out tickets for the event this week. We will also be in the cafe on Thursday with more invites.

LATINX LEADERS CAREER PANEL:  On Friday the CCRC and Latinx Cultural Club "Raíces" will be hosting the Latinx Leaders Career Panel. Come and celebrate Latinx success with us and hear from various Latinx industry professionals and community leaders. This event is open to all Latinx identifying students. NERDY GIRL SUCESSl  Are you eager to learn more about different careers and hear from industry professionals? Come to the Career and Leadership Summit presented by Nerdy Girl Success. This event will be at Maine East High School on Saturday from 9-12:30. All female and non-binary identifying students are welcomed. There will be workshops, a career fair, a panel discussion, and goodie bags. To sign up, register on SchooLinks or visit Ms. Nelson in the CCRC.

BOYS BASKETBALL:  Boys' Basketball is having their first day of tryouts on Monday, November 6th. All student-athletes must have a current physical on file and be registered on 8 to 18. Please contact Coach Paxson with any questions.

WAPA:  WAPA is sponsoring a Turkey Trot November 13th from 3:30-5 in the spec foyer. Running, trotting and walking are welcomed. This event is open to anyone interested. We are asking for a $10 donation or $3 and 5 canned food items to be donated. All proceeds will be donated to The Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food Pantry. There will be a raffle, hot chocolate, turkey costumes and prizes. If you have questions please ask Mrs. Voigt or Mr. OBrill.

Happy Halloween

This morning be on the lookout for the Spooky Aldworth picture hidden around school.
If you find one, take it to the bookstore to redeem it for a free coffee voucher for the Corner Cafe.
Only one picture per person, do not bring in multiple Aldworths,
leave some for other people to find.

POETRY CLUB:  Are you and your friends pros at prose?  In your free time, do you often rhyme? Do you find yourself writing out what you feel?  Are you a poet and you had no prior inclination to coming to that conclusion whatsoever?  If so, you should join Poetry Club. Registrations must be completed by October 30th. New members need to register AND pay a $10 fee in the bookstore. One of the most anticipated events of the year, "West's Got Talent" features everything from magic tricks to singing to dancing and much much more. FINE ARTS MEDIA CAREER DAY:  The Fine Arts Department at Maine West will be hosting a Media Career Day open to ALL students on Saturday, October 21st, from 8:00am until 12:30pm. Students will visit WGN studios in Chicago and hear from a panel of industry professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for any Maine West student to learn about careers in the media industry. See Ms. Fisher in R209 for a permission slip.

Don't miss this gripping, true-life account of a young Jewish girl who goes into hiding, attempting to escape the horrors of Nazi occupation during World War II. Performances run Thursday, October 12, Friday, October 13, and Saturday, October 14th at 7pm in the Maine West Auditorium. Tickets are $7 for students and $12 for adults and can be purchased online and at the door.

Improv Team practices are only once a week in the morning to avoid conflicts with activities and other sports. We will teach you everything you need to know!
