MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2019

STUDENTS:  The National English Honor Society will have a holiday bake sale in front of the student cafeteria on Friday, December 6th before school and during periods 3-7.  Come get some yummy treats.

STUDENTS:  The National English Honor Society is holding a holiday book drive for Toys for Tots from December 6 through December 13.  Please donate any gently used children's books.  There will be bins in the LRC and in front of the student cafeteria.


ACCOUNTING CLUB:  Do you have a job and have to file a tax return next year? Are you looking for an activity to get involved with? Then Accounting Club may be for you! Accounting Club's focus is to teach members how to prepare a basic individual tax return. Members will become certified by the IRS and that looks great on applications and resumes, and is a valuable life skill. Two informational meetings for those interested in learning more about Accounting Club will be held before school on Wednesday, December 4 from 7:45-8:10 in D112 OR after school on Thursday, December 5 from 3:25-3:45 in D112.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD:  There will be an important informational meeting on Monday, December 9th in G-102 for any girl interested in joining the Track & Field team. Please keep in mind that the season begins January 21st.

ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB:  Please join Environmental Club after school today in A104. We'll talk about fundraising and our upcoming Forest Preserve Volunteering.

FASHION & COSMETOLOGY CLUB:  Fashion & Cosmetology Club will be hosting a DIY scrunchie workshop on Tuesday, December 3 after school in C108. Learn how to make a scrunchie in less than an hour. This is open to all students and supplies will be provided.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) CLUB:  Interested in American Sign Language? Join the Maine West ASL Club! Our first meeting is after school, Thursday, December 5th, in front of the fireplace in the LRC.

CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to the following students who won awards at the District 211 Turkey Tournament this past Saturday for our Speech Team.
         Meghna Pillai and Kaya Socha took third place in Humorous Duet Acting
         Lucielle Aponte Arcos took 6th place in Poetry

SENIORS:  Don't forget that if you have not had time to file your FAFSA, we are here to help! Monica from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be in the CCRC today during periods 3-6. Feel free to stop by during your free period.

The Wrestling team begins their season tonight in spec gym for their Blue and Gold Scrimmage. Come out for this free event at 6 pm to support our wrestlers!

MOVIE CLUB:  Movie club is meeting after school today in L101 to  show the smash action hit, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to Michelle Kaner on her sectional championships in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke at this weekends IHSA sectional meet. Both were school records and she has qualified for this weekends state meet. Good luck Michelle!

WRESTLING:  Registration for wrestling is now open. You can sign up on the Athletics website. Come to open mat in the wrestling room, G116, after school on Tuesday and Thursday next week.
