HOMECOMING WEEK: Tomorrow's homecoming spirit dress-up day is Hocochella – Represent your favorite band, artist, or music genre. Don't forget to keep an eye on @mw.svc and @mwactivities on Instagram for details on all the fun lunchtime activities happening throughout the week. Let’s make it an unforgettable Homecoming Week.

HOMECOMING DANCE:  This year's Homecoming Dance theme is Maine West Mixtape, taking place on Saturday at 7:00 in Spec Gym and Fieldhouse. Tickets are $30 each. Students are required to present their ID when purchasing tickets in the bookstore and at the door for entry to the Homecoming dance. Students that would like to purchase a ticket for a student that doesn't attend Maine West will receive a link to pay for the ticket after receiving approval for their outside guest. Grab your tickets early, dust off your best dance moves and get ready for an unforgettable night.

SPEECH TEAM CRAFT AND BAKE SALE:  The Speech Team is having a crafty bake sale to celebrate Homecoming week Thursday and Friday during lunch in the lower commons. The team will be selling cute crafts, including Maine West themed stickers, custom pens and crocheted stuffies, as well as a delicious array of freshly baked goods. Come check it out during your lunch break.

FALL BLOOD DRIVE:  Please join us for the Fall Blood Drive on Thursday in the Spec Gym Foyer from 8:30-2:15. You can schedule an appointment via the QR codes or the website address posted in the hallways. Students who are 17 or 18 years of age can give and students who are 16 will need consent from a parent or guardian. Students may only donate during lunch, PE, or a free period and each donor will receive a pair of pajama pants and 25 spirit points

REGISTER TO VOTE:  Have you registered to vote in the upcoming November election? If not, there is still time. Volunteers will be in the LRC all day Tuesday and Wednesday to help students register. If you will be 18 by November 3 and are a U.S. citizen you are eligible.  Registering is quick and easy. Please bring two of the following items when you come to register, your Illinois Driver’s License or State ID, the last four digits of your social security number and/or your school ID.

MU ALPHA THETA:  See the posters in the hallway for information about Mu Alpha Theta. Current senior members should pay for honor cords in the bookstore by September 21st.

SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: If you're interested in joining Science National Honor Society, come to the meeting after school today in B107.

COMPUTER SCIENCE CLUB: The Computer Science Club will have its first meeting Thursday at 3:15 in room B211. If you are interested in computer programming, please join us. No experience necessary. At the first meeting we will discuss our plans for the year. If you have questions contact Ms. Levin or stop by B211.

GSA: GSA's first informational meeting of the year will be Thursday after school in the library from 3:00-3:30. We meet in front of the fireplace.

WEST WORDS: Calling writers, artists, comic book creators, editors, digital designers and world builders, West Words needs your time and talent.  West Words is your Maine West literary magazine, and we need your art to publish in our digital and print publications. Not one for creating, but have an eye for editing? Great, we need you too. Come to an informational meeting Thursday in A108 from 3:30-4:00 to learn more about how to be a part of this Warrior tradition.

SEAL OF BILITERACY:  Seniors, can you read, write and speak another language?  Our first round of Seal of Biliteracy will take place on Thursday and Friday during periods 1-4 for members of the senior class. Students who have signed up for testing will have their attendance excused. Students will be immediately sent back to class as soon as they conclude their testing. Sign up using the QR code around the building or see Ms. Tomasello in the SFS office or Ms. Rodriguez in room A208.

WEST'S GOT TALENT:  Are you getting your act together? West's Got Talent, Maine West's All-School Talent show is revving up for another exciting season. Don't sing? Don't dance? DON'T WORRY! "West's Got Talent" features all kinds of acts and no previous experience is necessary. Whether its magic, juggling or even a beat-boxing performance, we want to see you and your friends on the Maine West stage.  An interest meeting will be held on Thursday, September 24 from 3:30 to 4 in R207 and auditions will take place on September 29 and September 30 after school.
