SCIENCE OLYMPIAD:  Interested in science, engineering or building things? Whether you are a seasoned competitor or looking to try something new, Science Olympiad is for you. This program offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into STEM topics through a collaborative, team-based environment.  No experience necessary.  We will meet Friday after school in B108.

MU ALPHA THETA:  See the posters in the hallways about joining Mu Alpha Theta. Senior members can pay $7 in the bookstore now to get honor cords. See Mrs. Stutheit with any questions.

SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY:  Are you interested in joining the West chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society? We will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 1 at 3:00 in A207. We will review new membership requirements and answer any questions. This meeting is only required for those who have not yet been inducted. Please reach out to Mr. Walzer with any questions.

ASL CLUB: Have you ever wanted to learn or practice American Sign Language? Come to ASL club in the library after school on Tuesday, September 1st for an informational meeting.

DRAMA CLUB:  The first drama club meeting of the year will be Wednesday, September 2 in A206 from 3:15 - 4:00. All are welcome! There will be candy, games and much much more. We will discuss this year's season and our upcoming trip to the Illinois High School Theatre Festival.

WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT CLUB:  The Women's Empowerment Club will meet  for the first time this year on Thursday, September 3. The meeting will be held at 8:00 in the CCRC. Reach out to Ms. Hart or Ms. Nelson for more details.

NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY:  Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors interested in joining The National English Honor Society can attend an informational meeting on either Wednesday, September 2 at 3:00 in A218 or Thursday, September 3 at 8:00 AM in A218. Information about requirements and the application process will be presented.

BOOK CLUB: Book club is having it's first meeting on Wednesday, September 9th after school in the library in front of the Fireplace. Come and chat about what you read over summer and help us choose our first read for the year.

COLLEGE FAIR AND POSTSECONDARY EXPO:  The D207 College Fair and Postsecondary Expo is Wednesday, September 9 from 6:30-8 HERE at Maine West. There will be over 100 post high school options including colleges and trade programs, a FAFSA presentation and a trades presentation. Come learn about all your options for post high school. If you have any questions, reach out to Ms. Adams or Ms. Nelson in the CCRC.

SEAL OF BILITERACY:  Seniors, can you read, write and speak another language?  Our first round of Seal of Biliteracy will take place on September 17th and 18th during periods 1-4 for members of the senior class. Students who have signed up for testing will have their attendance excused. Students will be immediately sent back to class as soon as they conclude their testing. Sign up using the QR codes around the building or see Ms. Tomasello in the SFS office or Ms. Rodriguez in room A208.
