Congratulations to West Side Dance Company’s Choreographer Makayla Allen and dancers;

They will be performing Makayla’s piece “Burn” at the Illinois High School Dance Festival’s
student choreography showcase. This is an amazing honor. Their dance was chosen one of the 12 best dances in the state of Illinois choreographed by a student.
They perform this evening. Wish them all the best.

CHEERLEADING:  The cheerleading program will host an open gym on Monday at 5:00 pm in the fieldhouse for those wanting to learn how to stunt, tumble and/or just meet new people. Open gyms are open to everyone in the school.

ASSYRIAN CLUB:  Come join the newly formed Assyrian Club after school Monday, April 11in H106.  This is open to all Maine West students that want to learn more about the Assyrian culture in a positive club environment.

SPRING PLAY PERFORMANCE:  Maine West High School’s Drama Department proudly presents this year’s Spring Play, “Lost Girl” April 21st at 4:00pm and April 22nd and 23rd at 7:00p.m. in the Maine West Auditorium. This contemporary coming-of-age story explores the tale of Peter Pan through the eyes of Wendy Darling after she returns from Neverland. At the age of twenty, she must confront her feelings about first love, friendship, and painful loss. Wendy is the girl who had to grow up. Playwright Kimberly Belflower won the 2018 Kennedy Center Darrell Ayers National Playwriting Award for “Lost Girl.” Don’t miss this beautiful play! Tickets may be purchased at https://mainewesttheatre.seatyourself.biz at the Maine West Bookstore, or at the door. Admission is $7 for students and $10 for adults.

CLOTHING DRIVE:  National Art Honor Society is sponsoring a clothing drive for the Des Plaines Self Help Pantry running through April 8th. Please help spread the word and donate to the collection container located in the rotunda at the front entrance of Maine West.

ACCOUNTING CLUB:  Did you have a job in 2021? Did you get a W-2 in the mail and are unsure what to do with it? Do your parents file your taxes for you? If you answered "Yes!" to any of these questions, then you need the help of the Maine West Accounting Club. Our IRS certified members will help you prepare your tax return for free. Go to the Accounting Club website, or scan the QR code on posters around the school to sign up for an appointment now through April 15th.
