STUDENTS:  Now that we are beyond spring break and the Track teams can train outdoors, the fitness center will be open for the regular hours of 3:30:5pm on regular school days. Join us for a workout after school!

STUDENTS:  Are you looking for a part-time job?  The job fair will be around the cafeteria this Thursday, April 4 during lunch periods.  Talk to employers about hiring you now or for the summer.

STUDENTS: April is National Poetry Month.  The LRC is celebrating with a Blackout poetry event that will run all month long. Come to the LRC and pick up one of our black out sheets and create your own blackout poem.  Turn it in at the front desk, and after review, we will post it in our display cabinet! We hope to have no blank space by the end of the month.

SENIORS:  This is the last day to apply for the Maine West Scholarship Fund. Both the four-year college scholarship and the Oakton scholarship are due today. Please make sure you turn in all materials by the date and time needed. Stop by the CCRC if you have any questions or need help filling out the scholarship.

STUDENTS:  Capitol Forum is a small group of sophomore students dedicated to changing the world and getting people to recognize the importance of human rights. This year, following NHS’s lead, they will team up with Journeys: The Road Home, an organization serving the homeless population in the northwest suburbs. We will collect non-perishable food items that will be distributed from the organization’s center in Palatine. These items include canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, cookies, crackers, and individually-wrapped snack items. These items will make an immediate positive impact on people’s lives. Helping Hands for the Homeless runs March 14-22. Bring items to C-204 and contact Ms. Littlefield Lanham for more information.

Today we will have a one hour extended homeroom. All students will be going to their homerooms right after 2nd period. Seniors will participate in a dating violence prevention tutorial. Freshmen through Juniors will complete the non-testing portion of the mandatory SAT suite of assessments taking place April 9th and 10th.

This pre-administration session is required in order to take the tests on April 9 and April 10 that are mandatory tests.
  • Please bring a #2 pencil. No Mechanical Pencils!
  • If you are a Junior, you can select 4 colleges/universities to send the SAT scores to FREE of charge.
CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to Girls Water Polo. The Warriors traveled to Glenbrook North Tuesday night and pulled off a nail biter victory 8 to 7, they improve to 8 and 2.

CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to the JV Badminton Team for taking 1st place at the Palatine Quad.

CONGRATULATIONS:  The Varsity Badminton team won their first home match of the season last night, defeating Vernon Hills by a score of 16-2. The Warriors swept all 6 doubles matches and followed that up winning 10 of 12 singles matches. The best match of the night belonged to Jenna Robbins, who destroyed her opponent 21-6 and 21-13. Congrats Warriors on the great start!

CONGRATULATIONS:  This past weekend the Girls Water Polo team traveled to Hoffman Estates. They defeated Vernon Hills, Fremd and Hoffman Estates to win the tournament and bring home the tournament trophy. Congratulations Girls Water Polo!

STUDENTS:  The Maine West Orchesis Dance Company has been preparing an AMAZING show for you.  "One Leap Around the Sun" features hip hop, jazz, comedy, wonderful contemporary, all guy dances and the breathtaking adagio dance. We are featuring the Orchesis Dance company, the dance classes and alumni dance and so much more. Come and see OVER 100 DANCERS in the show this year.  Come see the show today and tomorrow at 7. Tickets are $5 for students, and $7 for adults.

STUDENTS:  Student Council is hosting a A GLOW UP, a glow in the dark dance/event. There will be glow in the dark basketball, glow in the dark life-size connect four and other glow in the dark contests. There will be FOOD TRUCKS. Tacos, cookies, iced coffee and more. Contests with prizes. The cost is $20 a ticket. Tickets are on sale NOW in the bookstore. Price goes up to $25 at the door. Dress casual. All proceeds go to the Patrick Lives On Foundation.

We are featuring the Orchesis Dance company, the dance classes and alumni dance and so much more. STUDENTS:  Want to learn more about financial aid? District 207's Financial Aid Night is March 13th at 7 pm here at Maine West. There will sessions about financial aid planning for college and sessions for seniors about understanding your award letters. Both sessions will be offered in English and Spanish and polish translation services will be made available for the Financial Aid Planning presentation. Let’s make a difference and help those in need in our community by bringing in toiletries.
