SPEECH TEAM:  Speech Team will be competing tomorrow in the "UltiMUTT DOG SHOW" at Hersey High School. Students will be performing in events like prose, poetry and impromptu for a chance to win awards and name recognition for Maine West. Best of luck tomorrow team and we hope you do well. PSYCHOLOGY CLUB:  Psychology Club is after school today in room C214. We will be discussing the "uncanny valley" phenomenon and other cool topics. 

BAKE SALE:  The National English Honor Society will be hosting a holiday bake sale on Friday, December 8th during 5th period lunches. All cookies, brownies, cakes and other baked goods will be sold for $2.00.  CASH ONLY. All proceeds will go to a good cause.

BOOK DRIVE:  The National English Honor Society will be holding a holiday book drive for slightly used children’s books (ages 3-9) beginning on Monday and ending on Friday, December 15th. There will be bins in the front rotunda, bus concourse and in the LRC.

NEWS FROM CCRC:  Seniors, are you still working on your plans for after high school? If so, come to the CCRC anytime on Wednesday, December 6th. School counselors, Ms. Holmes and Ms. Nelson will be available all day to help you in the CCRC  Those who attend will be entered into a raffle for free swag.

WARRIORETTE DANCE TEAM:  If you are interested in trying out for the Warriorette Dance team, there are tryouts tonight from 4:30-6 in the dance room.

MAINE WEST UNPLUGGED:  Do you play an acoustic instrument? Are you looking for other musicians to play with outside of a classroom? Maine West Unplugged is the answer to your search for other West musicians. Come to Maine West Unplugged in the library after school today.

ANIME CLUB:  Join anime club today after school in D113.

SPEECH TEAM: The Speech Team attended the Speechapalooza Tournament hosted by Prospect High School this Saturday. The team did really well and showed a lot of spirit. Junior Elisha Joseph placed second in Informative Speaking. Congratulations Elisha on a magnificent performance, and kudos Speech Team for a wonderful showing!

ANNUAL SCIENCE DAY:  Please encourage your younger siblings to attend the Science Day tomorrow from 10 to 2. There will be fun science and art activities and it is free. Thanks for supporting Science National Honor Society.

SPEECH TEAM:  Speech Team will be competing in their first tournament tomorrow. The tournament is called "Spooktacular" and is hosted by Buffalo Grove High School. The team will be performing in various event categories, including Prose, Original Oratory and Informative Speaking for a chance to win awards and name recognition for Maine West. LATINX LEADERS CAREER PANEL:  Today the CCRC and Latinx Cultural Club "Raíces" will be hosting the Latinx Leaders Career Panel. Come and celebrate Latinx success with us and hear from various Latinx industry professionals and community leaders. This event is open to all Latinx identifying students. NERDY GIRL SUCESSl  Are you eager to learn more about different careers and hear from industry professionals? Come to the Career and Leadership Summit presented by Nerdy Girl Success. This event will be at Maine East High School on Saturday from 9-12:30. All female and non-binary identifying students are welcomed. WAPA:  WAPA is sponsoring a Turkey Trot November 13th from 3:30-5 in the spec foyer. Running, trotting and walking are welcomed. This event is open to anyone interested. We are asking for a $10 donation or $3 and 5 canned food items to be donated. All proceeds will be donated to The Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food Pantry. There will be a raffle, hot chocolate, turkey costumes and prizes. If you have questions please ask Mrs. Voigt or Mr. OBrill.

GYMNASTICS:  Interested in learning gymnastics? Have you mastered how to walk across the beam and want to learn more? Come check out the gymnastics team.  Come to open Gymnastics today in A-Wing gym after school from 3:30-5pm. Season starts November 6 at 3:30pm. No experience required and No cuts. MAINE WEST UNPLUGGED:  Attention acoustic musicians. Maine West Unplugged will be meeting in the Library today at 3. Bring your acoustic instruments and bring out your inner rock star.

POP UP ART SHOW:  CALL FOR ARTISTS! Today you can make a small canvas painting to be in the POP UP ART SHOW. Students who would like to make a small painting to put in the art show should come to the art suite during lunch periods. If you do not have a ticket yet, there will be art teachers or current art students passing them out in the cafeteria. The artwork will be up until 3:00 when you can come pick it up and take it home.
