All donations will be distributed to those in the community who face Alzheimer's. Puzzles between 10-100 pieces are preferred. Please be sure they have all the pieces. The drive will run till the end of the week.

Drop-off locations are in the LRC and in front of the student cafeteria. Thank you for your support.

ACCOUNTING CLUB MEMBERS:  We will meet on Tuesday, December 11 from 7:00-7:30 a.m. in D112. Please pass the two IRS exams (Ethics & Intake/Interview/Quality Review) by this meeting. We will take our yearbook photo and distribute the training booklet for the Basic Tax Exam.

We will discuss testing for regional competition, distribute field trip forms for regional competition and finalize written events for state competition. BOYS BASKETBALL SHOOT-A-THON:  On Saturday, November 17th, we are doing our annual shoot-a-thon. Last year we made over 6,000 3-pointers during this event. THIS YEAR WE WILL BEAT THAT NUMBER! Every player is required to make 100 3-pointers, therefore some players have to make 200 or more 3-pointers this Saturday. It's not easy to do, but we believe WE NEED TO EARN EVERYTHING! The Maine South Astronomy Club will be hosting a community outreach event on the evening of Saturday, November 10 starting at 5:30 pm.  In conjunction with Maine South's School Wide Fundraiser, in support of the Dup15q Alliance, admission will be $3 per individual and $5 for families of 3 or more people. There will be a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win prizes, with all proceeds split between the School Wide Fundraiser and the Astronomy Club.

The evening will begin with a series of five minute lectures in the school library given by Maine South students on a variety of astronomy related topics. After about 30 minutes, we will walk out to the school's north field, and we will help people make observations with the school's telescopes. This is designed for people who are astronomy curious from ages 8 through 80. We plan to end the evening by 7:00 pm.

We are asking that people register by e-mailing Tom Egan at tegan@maine207.org so we can contact interested persons in the event of inclement weather and cancellation.

The Maine South Astronomy Club will be hosting a community outreach event on the evening of Saturday November 10 starting at 5:30 pm.  In conjunction with Maine South's School Wide Fundraiser, in support of the Dup15q Alliance, admission will be $3 per individual and $5 for families of 3 or more people. There will be a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win prizes, with all proceeds split between the School Wide Fundraiser and the Astronomy Club.

The evening will begin with a series of five minute lectures in the school library given by Maine South students on a variety of astronomy related topics. After about 30 minutes, we will walk out to the school's north field, and we will help people make observations with the school's telescopes. This is designed for people who are astronomy curious from ages 8 through 80. We plan to end the evening by 7:00 pm.

We are asking that people register by e-mailing Tom Egan at tegan@maine207.org so we can contact interested persons in the event of inclement weather and cancellation.

Raffle tickets are $1 each and you can enter for a chance to win an assortment of prizes. All proceeds will benefit the Dress for Success organization to help empower women to achieve economic independence. We are also hosting a donation drive to collect career apparel for women, including accessories, handbags, shoes and jewelry. In order to tryout, online registration and an updated physical must be turned into the athletic office by Friday, November 2nd. Continue the championship tradition at Maine West by competing for the boys basketball program this winter.

The Maine West Canned Food Drive started Monday, October 22nd and runs through November 2nd. There will be a competition for the first period class that brings in the most non-perishable and canned food items. The winning class will receive a gourmet breakfast. All items will be taken to the Des Plaines Self Help Pantry. First period teachers should have received an email with instructions. If you have not, please contact Ms. Archer or Ms.Lloyd.

The canned food drive results are in: currently there is an 11 can average in Ms. Lloyd's class, an 8.9 can average in Ms. Jacob's class and third place is neck and neck - Mr. Hassman with a 1.78 can average & Mr. Gray with a 1.77 can average. THURSDAY is a DOUBLE POINTS DAY! May the best class win.
