GIRLS SOCCER:   Girls Soccer tryouts are today. Come to the Fieldhouse at 5:30 pm.

LINK CREW:  Link Crew Wants YOU.   Current Sophomores or Juniors are invited to apply.  There is a mandatory meeting Wednesday, March 8 in room E107 at 7:45 am or during any 5th period lunches or at 3:00 pm.  Returning and new applicants should attend.

CONGRATULATIONS:  At the Lake County Mock Trial Tournament in Waukegan this past Saturday, Maine West brought home three awards. Emilia Jozwik and Mohnish Soni were awarded trophies for "Outstanding Attorney" while Carlos Hernandez was awarded his second trophy this year for "Outstanding Witness." Congratulations Emilia, Mohnish, and Carlos and the entire Maine West Mock Trial Team as we qualified for the State Tournament in March.

CONGRATULATIONS:  At the McClean County Mock Trial Tournament in Bloomington, Illinois, Out of 105 witnesses, Maine West's own Carl Hernandez Hernandez finished in first place to receive the "Outstanding Witness" trophy. Congratulations Carlos! We are very proud of your efforts to bring this achievement to West.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2023

STUDENTS: To celebrate Black History Month, District 207 will be hosting Black Excellence is Everywhere at Maine East on Thursday, February 16th. The event will be held from 3:30-5:30 and dinner and transportation will be provided. If you identify and are interested in attending, please stop by the CCRC in B101 or check the CCRC Instagram for more information!

VALENTUNES: Valentunes will be delivered during 6th period tomorrow for Valentine's day.  Valentunes can be purchased in the bookstore for only $2.00.

MUSICAL - YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN:  Don't miss this year's MONSTROUSLY HILARIOUS musical comedy, YOUNG FRANKESTEIN. Performances run Thursday February 16th through the 18th at 7pm and February 19th at 2pm. Tickets are available in the bookstore, online and at the door.

PI SIGMA PI:  Pi Sigma Pi will have a very important meeting on Thursday at 7:45 am in the lower commons. We need club members to get involved with several upcoming activities, including a Scholastic Bowl Showdown.

CHRISTIAN VOLKMANN BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT:  The Christian Volkmann Basketball tournament is Saturday, February 25th from 10am- 3pm. We need student volunteers to help with registration, concessions, scorekeeper/ referring and being peer buddies to our teams. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Pettyjohn in C107 or C109. Volunteer forms will be in both rooms to sign up!

SOFTBALL: Softball will have a softball informational meeting from 3-3:30pm on Thursday February 16th in room G102. Tryouts begin Monday February 27th. Make sure you have your physical up to date and you're registered on 8to18.  The last open gym before tryouts will be Monday February 13th from 5:30pm-7:15pm in the Field House. Please bring your Bats, Helmet, and Glove.  Any questions see Coach Addante or Dvorak.

GIRLS WATER POLO:  Attention girls seeking a spring sport. What if there was a sport that combined basketball, hockey, soccer, and swimming? How cool would that be? Water Polo will have it's organizational meeting on Wednesday, February 15th at 3:30 in D114. No experience is required.

BADMINTON:  Badminton Tryouts will take place on Monday, February 27th after school in the spec gym. You must be signed up on the Maine West Athletics 8 to 18 in order to try out. We have an informational meeting on Wednesday, February 16th at 3:30 in E-107 (Next to the Bookstore) Also Friday morning on the 17th there will be Badminton Open Gym from 6:30 - 7:30 am.
