STUDENT COUNCIL:  Student Council will meet Wednesday, October 2 in at 7:30 am in E108. All are welcome!

SPEECH TEAM:  If you are interested in joining speech team, please come to C205 after school today to learn more about our season. Contact Mr. Rosenberg or Mr. McClure.

MOCK TRIAL: If you are interested in finding out about the Mock Trial Team, there will be an information meeting in C205 at 7:45 am and 3:20 pm on Wednesday, October 2. See Mr. Rosenberg with questions.

BOARD GAME CLUB: Board game club will meet after school on Wednesday in B109.  Come to play.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD:  Science Olympiad will have a meeting after school Friday in B113 to discuss this season. All are invited to attend this informational meeting.

FENCING:  Are you interested in Fencing? Bring your parents and join the fencing coaches for an informational meeting in the little theater on Wednesday, October 9th at 5:30 pm.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Anyone interested in playing girls basketball is invited to open gym this week Thursday, October 3 at 3:30 in C wing gym. Tryouts are October 28-29.

Scholastic Bowl is a team where we compete against other schools; students compete by answering trivia questions. If you love Trivia Crack, you will love Scholastic Bowl! All students are welcome to come to the first practice to see if they are interested.

MAINE WEST BOYS GOLF EXCITED TO MAKE HISTORIC NIGHT DEBUT
In the over 100 years the sport has been sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association, there have been exactly zero events that have taken place at night…until now.  Maine West hosts Highland Park at 7 p.m. Friday at Golf Center Des Plaines in the state’s inaugural night meet in boys golf.  Most golf courses don’t have lights, so meets traditionally end once the sun goes down. The Golf Center course is nine holes and well lit, setting up the historic opportunity.


BLOOD DRIVE:  The first blood drive of the school year is today from 10-2:30 in B-wing gym.

TONIGHT from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. This event is great for all grade levels to attend so that you can begin to learn more about different colleges. Financial aid presentations will be taking place at 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. in both English and Spanish. Bring your families and your friends!

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Girls interested in playing basketball this year, there is open gym on Friday at 3:30 in C-Wing gym. Everyone is welcome!

JUNIORS: The National PSAT/NMSQT test taking place Saturday, October 19th at 8:00 am is at Maine East High School (Maine West is not a site). The PSAT/NMSQT is a National Merit qualifier and should not be taken as a practice test for the SAT in the spring. However, it should be taken by any junior who wants to be considered for this recognition. The deadline to register is Friday, September 13th. The cost of the test is $17 paid at the Maine West Bookstore.  More information about arrival time, what to bring to the test, etc. will be sent to those students who register by September 13th.

STUDENTS:  Have you ever wanted to sing the national anthem at a school assembly or football game? Now's your chance! Auditions for national anthem singers will be held after school today from 3:30-4:30 pm in the choir room, R207. Please see Mr. Schiffer with any additional questions.

ART CLUB:  Art Club is looking for new members interested in making art. Our first Art Club meeting is this Thursday after school in E-107.

POLISH CLUB:  Polish Club will meet Thursday, September 5th from 7:45-8:15 am in B113 to plan our year. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Hiselman or Mrs. Piechocinski in B113.

ESPORTS CLUB:  Hey Warrior gamers! If you are interested in being part of the Warrior Esports team, come to B107 after school on Thursday, September 5 for an introductory meeting. There will be a raffle for fabulous prizes.

BOYS BASKETBALL:  For all boys interested in playing basketball this year, there will be a brief informational meeting at 3:30 pm today in B Wing Gym. Open gym will follow the meeting. Come prepared to play!

WRESTLING: Interested in getting stronger this Fall? Come to a wrestling informational meeting and open mat today after school in the wrestling room, G116.

STUDENTS:  Mrs. Giricz and Mr. Roy are excited to take our Hispanic/Latinx Juniors and Seniors to Oakton for their LATINX TEEN - College Success Program on Thursday, September 17th at 8 am. We will return to school around 2:00 pm.  This conference will have more information about Oakton, their scholarships, and you will learn the benefits of attending a community college. The field trip permission form needs to be completed and signed by September 4th. Eligible students should have received an email with the permission slip and copies are available in the Student Services Office There is no cost for this field trip.  The opportunity to attend this field trip is for the first 40 students who bring in their completed field trip permission form to the counselor's office.
