PRINCIPAL'S LEADERSHIP TEAM:  The Principal's Leadership Team exists to give students a voice in making decisions that affect their quality of life in school. The group meets once per month with Dr. McMahon to organize events and activities and provide feedback on school life. Attendance is required. The group is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  Please complete and submit this form by 3 pm today if you would like to be considered for the team.

MW UNPLUGGED:  Do you play an acoustic instrument and want to meet other students who like to play off-book, improvise, and jam?  Then show up to the library after school TODAY and join us for Maine West Unplugged.  Have questions? Please see Mr. Greenberg in the library.

NEWS FROM THE CCRC:  Every Tuesday the CCRC will be hosting an application workshop called "Apply" Yourself Tuesdays. You are welcome to stop by during your lunch period to get support with applying to colleges, scholarships, and even jobs.

NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY:   If you are interested in becoming a member of the National English Honor Society, please attend one of the following informational meetings in A218 on Wednesday, September 17th at 8:00 a.m. or Wednesday, September 17th at 3:00 p.m.

STUDENT VOICE COUNCIL:  Do you want to help plan school-wide events like Homecoming Week? Join Student Voice Council. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, September 17th at 7 AM in Room D105. We will be picking our homecoming theme so come for breakfast, planning, and 25 spirit points.

NEWS FROM THE CCRC:  On Wednesday October 1st, the CCRC and Latine Cultural Club "Raíces" will be hosting the Latine Leaders Career Panel during 8th period in the auditorium. Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and hear from Latine career leaders. All Latine Juniors and Seniors are welcome to attend. To sign up, register on SchooLinks or visit Ms. Nelson in the CCRC.

WEST'S GOT TALENT:  Are you getting your act together? An interest meeting for Maine West's Annual Talent Show, "West's Got Talent", will be held on Thursday, September 25 from 3:20 to 4:00 pm in R207. Don't sing? Don't dance? DON'T WORRY! "West's Got Talent" features all kinds of acts and no previous experience is necessary. Whether its magic, juggling or even a beat-boxing performance, we want to see you and your friends on the Maine West stage. Email Mr. Harmon, Mrs. Jacob or Ms. Herrera if you have any questions.

VOTER REGISTRATION: Care about the environment, civil rights, your future? Then, vote. Volunteers from Action Ridge will be in the Library on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 to 3:00 to help students register.  2026 is an election year for Illinois’s Governor, Senator and Representative of Congress. There is a primary on March 17 and the midterm election on November 3. Be ready to make your voice heard. Register to vote now.  You are eligible to vote if you will be 18 by November 3, 2026 and are a U.S. citizen.  Please bring two of the following items when you come to register, your Illinois Driver’s License or State ID, the last four digits of your social security number and/or another ID.  If you forget your IDs but still want to register, come down to the Library anyway, volunteers can give you the tools you need to register at home.
