GYMNASTICS:  Interested in learning gymnastics? Have you mastered how to walk across the beam and want to learn more? Come check out the gymnastics team.  Come to open Gymnastics November 1 and 2 in A-Wing gym after school from 3:30-5pm. Season starts November 6 at 3:30pm. No experience required and No cuts. Remember to get your physical and sign up on 8to18 to join the team.  Have questions, email Mrs.Harrison or see her in H111 during the day.

T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST:  Students in the Advanced Digital Art class designed Maine West t-shirts. YOU get to vote for the design that will be produced and sold in the bookstore. Vote for your favorite design by scanning the QR code on the monitors and posters around school. (HERE is a link to the ballot.)

SOUTH ASIAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION:  Members of South Asian Student Association, meet in the CCRC tomorrow morning at 7:45 to plan for our Diwali celebration.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Girls' Basketball tryouts begin today at 3:40 pm in Spec Gym. You must be registered on 8to18 and have an updated physical to tryout. Please contact Coach Kuzmanic or stop by B217 if you have any questions.

BOYS SWIM & DIVE:  Boys Swim and Dive will have a pre season meeting in the pool at 3:15 on Thursday, November 2. First day of practice is November 20. See Coach Trella with questions.

ATTENTION ALL SWIFTIES:  Did you miss the eras tour? You can "shake it off" because WMTH Radio will be hosting a 1989 Taylor's Version Listening party today at 3:30 in R209. There will be free snacks and make your own friendship bracelets that will never go out of "style." All Swifties are welcome to attend.

HALLOWEEN HORROR FILM FESTIVAL: WMTH is hosting a Horror Film Festival open to ALL students tomorrow during A, B and C lunches in R209. Bring your friends to watch spooky movies and enjoy free treats from La Esperanza Bakery.

MU ALPHA THETA:  Are you a sophomore, junior or senior looking to join the Math National Honors Society? Check your eligibility and find out how to register for Mu Alpha Theta by scanning the QR codes on the fliers in your math classroom and on the bulletin boards around the school. Registrations must be completed by October 30th. New members need to register AND pay a $10 fee in the bookstore. Seniors have the opportunity to purchase an honors cord to wear during graduation for $6 in the bookstore. We are not able to accept late registrations or orders. Contact Mr. Smith with questions.

CURRENT EVENTS CLUB:  Current Events Club will meet on Thursday, November 2 at 3:00 in room C220. Please join us to discuss the topic of Affirmative Action in education. Background readings are posted on the Pi Sigma Pi Google Classroom page.

LATINX LEADERS CAREER PANEL:  On Friday, November 3rd, the CCRC and Latinx Cultural Club "Raíces" will be hosting the Latinx Leaders Career Panel. Come and celebrate Latinx success with us and hear from various Latinx industry professionals and community leaders. This event is open to all Latinx identifying students. NERDY GIRL SUCESSl  Are you eager to learn more about different careers and hear from industry professionals? Come to the Career and Leadership Summit presented by Nerdy Girl Success. This event will be at Maine East High School on November 4th from 9-12:30. All female and non-binary identifying students are welcomed. There will be workshops, a career fair, a panel discussion, and goodie bags. To sign up, register on SchooLinks or visit Ms. Nelson in the CCRC.

WAPA:  WAPA is sponsoring a Turkey Trot November 13th from 3:30-5 in the spec foyer. Running, trotting and walking are welcomed. This event is open to anyone interested. We are asking for a $10 donation or $3 and 5 canned food items to be donated. All proceeds will be donated to The Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food Pantry. There will be a raffle, hot chocolate, turkey costumes and prizes. If you have questions please ask Mrs. Voigt or Mr. OBrill.
