MUSIC APPRECIATION SOCIETY: Hey Music Lovers! The Maine West Music Appreciation Society listens to discusses all types of music. We meet every other Thursday in the LRC. If you are a fan of hip-hop, rock, soul, funk, jazz, world, classical, pop and anything else that satisfies your ears and moves your soul, please come to an informational meeting in the LRC at 3:30 this Thursday, August 29. MATH TEAM: The math team is starting their season with a pizza party on Thursday after school in room H106. Anyone interested in joining the math team is welcome. We'll give you all the information you'll need about the new season and we'll do our annual class competition. If you have any questions ask Ms. Levin in room B211.
NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY: Any sophomore, junior, or senior interested in joining the National English Honor Society, please complete the application by this Friday, August 30th. The link to the application can be found on the Maine West English Department web page.
BOARD GAME CLUB: Board Game Club will have its first meeting of the year after school today in room B109. Come for games, food, and fun!
DECA: Attention all M.W. students interested in learning and applying skills related to careers and business. The Maine West business organization, DECA, will have their first meeting on Thursday, August 29th before school from 7:45-8:10 in Room D112. During this informational meeting, we will explain what DECA is and why it matters to you, discuss our calendar of events and answer your questions. There is no obligation to join, just come to learn more. We hope to see new and returning DECA members on Thursday morning at 7:45 in D112.
JUNIORS: The National PSAT/NMSQT test taking place Saturday, October 19th at 8:00 am is at Maine East High School (Maine West is not a site). The PSAT/NMSQT is a National Merit qualifier and should not be taken as a practice test for the SAT in the spring. However, it should be taken by any junior who wants to be considered for this recognition. The deadline to register is Friday, September 13th. The cost of the test is $17 paid at the Maine West Bookstore. More information about arrival time, what to bring to the test, etc. will be sent to those students who register by September 13th.
