The Maine South Astronomy Club will be hosting a community outreach event on the evening of Saturday November 10 starting at 5:30 pm. In conjunction with Maine South's School Wide Fundraiser, in support of the Dup15q Alliance, admission will be $3 per individual and $5 for families of 3 or more people. There will be a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win prizes, with all proceeds split between the School Wide Fundraiser and the Astronomy Club.
The evening will begin with a series of five minute lectures in the school library given by Maine South students on a variety of astronomy related topics. After about 30 minutes, we will walk out to the school's north field, and we will help people make observations with the school's telescopes. This is designed for people who are astronomy curious from ages 8 through 80. We plan to end the evening by 7:00 pm.
