HISPANIC STUDENT CLUB: Hispanic Student Club will have its first meeting Tuesday, September 5, the first day back after Labor Day. It will be at 3:30 pm in L101. We will be working on fundraising and Hispanic Heritage Month.

ANIME CLUB: The first Anime Club meeting will be Tuesday, September 5 after school in room D105. See Mr. Kermend with any questions.

WEST WORDS:  Do you like to read and write poetry and short stories? If so, please come to the first meeting of West Words, Maine West's Literary Magazine.  We will meet on Wednesday, September 6th at 3:20 in room C208.

POLISH CLUB: Polish or not, give it a shot.  Join us at our first Polish Club meeting Tuesday morning, September 5th at 7:15 in Room H101.

The Boys Golf team battled state ranked GBN to a close finish Tuesday afternoon, but came out on the short end. The team was lead by Senior Matty Mustari who shot a 39, Junior Luke Rothweiler with a 41, Senior Matt Fairhead with a 43 and Christian Mirza had a 45.

Our Maine West Girls Cross Country team had a great start to the season with a third place finish at the District 207 meet last night. Our varsity team was lead by junior Sarah Magnoni with a finish of 22:30 and followed by senior Sandra Stasiak with a time of 23:32. Let's keep up the great work, ladies!

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Golf Team for finishing a very impressive 4th place in the 13 team Rolling Meadows invite. Junior Luke Rothweiler took 6th individually overall at this invite by shooting a 77. Others doing very well were Seniors Matt Fairhead with an 83, Matty Mustari with an 84, Christian Mirza with an 85 and Chase Stephen with an 88.

The boys varsity soccer team remains undefeated earning a 1 to 1 draw versus Sycamore on Saturday. Emerson Herrera assisted on Jason Ybarra's goal while the defense held strong. Way to go, guys!

Your varsity Warriors tennis team played at Niles North this weekend. Diane Win finished in 3rd place out of 16 teams competing at 2nd singles. Maja Kozerski finished in 4th at 1st singles. The doubles team of Gaby Keats and Abigail M took 5th place honors at 2nd doubles and the team of Gwendolyn Hudson and Olena Andrushko finished in 11th place at 1st doubles. Outstanding work ladies!

Join 3-D Innovations to be at the cutting edge of technology and learn about the Internet of Things while we make this tangible user interface to help the visually impaired, incoming freshmen and alumni navigate our school. Our first meeting is today after school in D-106 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.  We will meet every other Thursday.

ART CLUB:  Art club is looking for interested students to come to this years first art club meeting today after school in room E-107.

The varsity tennis team defeated Fenton High School on Tuesday night by a score of 4-1. Winning in singles were Maja Kozerski and Gwendolyn Hudson. The doubles teams of Olena Andrushko and Diane Win, along with Abigail M. and Gaby Kic, were also victorious. Great job ladies!

Congratulations to Sophomore Joe Engel for making a hole in one on the 4th hole at Chic Evans during a match against Leyden High School yesterday. Way to go Joey.

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Golf Team with a victory over Leyden yesterday evening by a score of 157-164. The Warriors were led by Senior Christian Mirza, Junior Luke Rothweiler, Sophomore Riley Griffin and Senior's Matt Fairhead & Chase Stephen.

The boys varsity soccer team kicked off the season with a 4 to nothing victory over Elk Grove. Goals were scored by Osmar Vega, Steven Abbinante, Emerson Herrera and Brandon Vazquez. Dean Hernandez and his defense earned the shutout. Way to go Warriors!

Auditions will be held on Monday, September 18 and Tuesday September 19 in R207. So get your ACT together.

STUDENTS: The LRC is calling on all musicians, poets and singers.   Do you have a talent you would like to share with your fellow Warriors? Do you have an interest in performing right here at school in the LRC? The LRC Performance Series is a great way to express your artistic gift in front of a Warrior audience.  If you are interested in performing, please speak with Mr. Greenberg or Mrs. Coover-Thompson in the LRC to set up an audition.

3D INNOVATIONS:  Inviting future engineers, doctors, artists and manufacturers, want to make a 3-D interactive model of Maine West High School that will light up and speak? Join 3-D Innovations to be at the cutting edge of technology and learn about the Internet of Things while we make this tangible user interface to help the visually impaired, incoming freshmen and alumni navigate our school. Our first meeting is Thursday, August 24 after school in D-106 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.  We will meet every other Thursday.

DECA: If you are interested in learning and applying skills related to careers and business. The Maine West business organization, DECA, will have our first meeting on Thursday, August 24th before school from 7:00-7:30 in Room D102. During this informational meeting, we will explain what DECA is and why it matters to you, discuss our calendar of events and answer your questions. There is no obligation to join, just come to learn more.

ART CLUB:  Art club is looking for interested students to come to this years first art club meeting Thursday after school in room E-107.

TRIBE: There will be a Tribe meeting on Friday morning at 7 am in D100 for any student that would like to promote school pride. Munchkins will be served.

The Varsity Boys Golf Team has gotten off to a strong start by finishing in the top half of the Leyden Invite and playing very well at the CSL Showcase. The team has been led by Junior Luck Rothweiler who has shot 79 and 81, Sophomore Riley Griffin with a 90 and Seniors Matty Mustari 87, Matt Fairhead 88 and Christian Mirza 91.

The varsity tennis team beat Regina Dominican last night to capture their first win of the season. Winning for the Warriors were Maja Kozerski and Diane Nguyen in singles and the doubles team of Gaby Kic and Abigail Milovancevic. The ladies play at home against Fenton on Tuesday next week.
