STUDENTS: Tomorrow we have an extended one hour advisory. The modified schedule is posted on our website. ALL students need to report to their advisories tomorrow.
Freshmen and Sophomores will be going through a mass media use training.
Seniors will be going through dating violence prevention training, and
Juniors will be going to your advisories to complete the non-testing portion of the SAT. This is mandatory in order to take the SAT April 5th. a mandatory test in order to graduate from High School
Please bring a #2 pencil. You cannot use mechanical pencils. and a black or blue ink pen. You will be able to select 4 colleges to receive your scores free of charge. Think ahead of time to what colleges you would like to send your scores. DO NOT BE ABSENT that day.
CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to the Maine West DECA team who competed at the state competition this past weekend! Ten MW students placed in the Top 3 in their event and qualified to compete at national competition in April. A special shout out to the following students who won first place in their events: Caty Buchaniec, and the team of Dara Kovacheva, Sanitha Mathews and Runal Patel! We are proud of all of you, and good luck in Anaheim!
STAFF AND STUDENTS: We would love to see you at the 12th annual Faculty vs. Students Scholastic Bowl competition after school in the faculty cafeteria on Wednesday. Teachers are up overall 8-3 but students have won the past two years. Who will emerge as the trivia champion?
STUDENTS: If you are looking for a summer job and like to work with children, apply for the summer tutoring program through District 207. Our high school students work as classroom aides in the elementary school districts during summer school. The online application is open through March 20th. Stop in the CRC or snap the QR code from one of our flyers around the building.
SENIORS: All seniors graduating in May 2017 must come to the counselor's office to verify their name as it should appear on their diploma. It should be the name on your birth certificate. A roster will be available on a clipboard in the counselor's office. Please initial next to your name.
PING PONG: Your last opportunity to play ping pong before spring break is after school today in H106 from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Try to bring a friend to hit around with. No experience necessary.
AFRICAN AMERIAN CLUB: After school today in the family center, we will be watching the thought provoking and powerful documentary, 13th. The film explores the intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States. Come join us right after school in the family center.
WESTERNER: For almost 60 years, the Westerner student newspaper has been the voice of students at Maine West in print and in social media. Covering everything from Maine West events to student talents to national and global issues. The award-winning Westerner keeps students informed about their world, no matter if it is the Orchesis show or the spring play, the basketball team or the math team, presidential executive actions or climate change, the dominance of Netflix or the excitement of the NCAA tournament. The Westerner covers it all. If you'd like to be a school leader as part of next year's Westerner staff, applications are due March 17 for writers, photographers, artists and editors.

JUNIORS: Please come to COACH in the back of the LRC on Thursday for a short SAT practice session. It will be after school until 4. You will get a chance to practice 2 short passages from the reading section of the test. There will be free treats for the first 20 students.
