Statistics show that 1 in 3 women across the planet will be victims of some form of sexual abuse or exploitation during their lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. Every February, we rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the justice that survivors often face. How will you rise?

STUDENTS:  Maine West's 2nd annual Dodge Ball Tournament will take place February 22nd at 6:00 pm in Spec Gym. There will be no divisions this year. Teams can be co-ed or non co-ed as well a mix of players from any class. You must form a team of 6 and the cost is $30 per team. All proceeds will benefit our school wide fundraiser St. Baldricks.  If you are interested, please get the sign up form in the main office or bookstore. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, February 16th.

STUDENTS:  Do you have a special someone? Want to embarrass a friend? Buy your "Valentune" or singing telegram from the Maine West Tri-M Music Honor Society this week in the cafe for only $2.  Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity.

STUDENTS:  Don't forget to visit the PopShop today for your Flamin Cheetos Seasoned Popcorn. One box for $2.00 or two box for $3.00. You can also get your usual Seasoning/Popcorn and/or Giant Freeze Pop for $1.00 Each. KEY CLUB:  Key club will meet Thursday at 7:00 am in L101.

IT'S A STITCH:  It's a stitch will meet Thursday after school in A114.

FASHION AND COSMETOLOGY CLUB:  Fashion and Cosmetology club will meet Thursday after school in C108. We will be designing Sharpie Mugs. Please bring a plain mug. All other supplies will be provided.


SENIORS: Applications for our very own Maine West Scholarship Fund and Oakton Scholarships are now available in the CRC and on the Student Services website. If you plan on attending any post-secondary school in the fall after graduation, we encourage you to apply. All applications are due back by March 16th. If you would like to volunteer for the Special Ed Basketball Tournament on February 18th, volunteer sheets are in C102. We need help with team buddies, concessions, referees and scorekeepers. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Pettyjohn.
