How many pop tabs can Maine West raise? Maine Township is on a mission to collect two million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We need your help and it's pretty easy, Drink your soda, Pull the tab off, Drop it in a bin around Maine West. Remember Drink. Pull. Drop.


SOPHOMORE STUDENTS:  If you are interested in applying for the Junior Leader program, the active link to apply is on the Maine West Physical Education webpage. All applications must be submitted by Tuesday, January 31.

STUDENTS:  The winter formal is quickly approaching.  The dance is on Saturday February 4th. This week only, tickets to the dance are on sale for $15. Next week, tickets will cost $20 and at the door they will cost $25. You must present a different ID for each ticket purchased.

PI SIGMA PI:  Today is the last day to order your Pi Sigma Pi shirt in the bookstore.  Our field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry is Sunday, January 22 from 9:00 to 3:15. You can see Mr. McClure or Mrs. Hendrickson for a permission slip. The trip is free, but you should bring $10 to $20 for lunch or additional attractions at the Museum.

DECA MEMBERS:  There is a MANDATORY meeting on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 a.m. in D102. We will be going over details for our upcoming regional competition. Please arrive by 7:00 a.m. on Thursday so you do not miss any important information.

STUDENT COUNCIL:  Student Council will meet Tuesday in A201 at 7:10 am. We will be discussing the Winter Formal dance.

STUDENTS:  Friday, January 20 "Student of the Quarter" pictures will be taken at 2:45 pm in the auditorium.

STUDENTS:  The Fitness Center will be open in the morning from 6am to 7:30am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  It will be open in the afternoon from 3:30-5pm on Mondays and Thursdays from January 17th until March 17th due to the start of the indoor track season.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the after school hours in the fitness center will be for athletes with a coach and open use of the facility will be in the mornings.

PING PONG:  If you are interested in playing ping pong, please come to room H106 on Monday, January 23 starting at 3:30 pm.  No experience necessary.  All skills levels welcome.  Equipment provided.

IT'S A STITCH:  It's A Stitch will meet Thursday after school in room A114.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD:  Girls track and field begins Tuesday, January 17 at 3:30 pm in the pit. Any girl interested must complete the registration via the Maine West Athletic webpage.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD:  Boys track practice starts today after school at the indoor track.  All athletes must register on the Athletic Department web-site before they start practicing.  See Coach Trotter in B207 during the school day if you have questions.

This weekend Maine West sent 4 bowlers to the IHSA Boy's Regional competition. Dan Nach, Kyle Roscoe, Joey Spenk and Matt Unverricht represented our school very well against some extremely tough competitors. Two of the bowlers, Kyle and Joey, bowled well enough to advance to the sectional competition this coming Saturday. Congratulations to all of them and good luck to those moving on.

Congratulations to our Warrior Coed Cheerleaders. This weekend they won first place at the Niles West Invitational. This is the second year in a row they have won this competition and it is the highest score they have earned all season.
