RED RIBBON WEEK IS HERE. Let's finish the week strong Warriors! Last day of Red Ribbon week is tomorrow and we are showing our support by doing what we do best, being awesome and amazing warriors. Show your school spirit with your blue and gold. Thanks for an incredible week.

STUDENTS:  As you all know, Mr. Lloyd passed away last week. To honor him, the Principal's Conference Room in L102 will be open today during the lunch periods to write notes or leave a memory for his family. He has two children, his son Ethan, who is a freshman in college, and his daughter Alex, who is a junior in high school. His wife and kids would certainly like to see some positive messages from Maine West as they go through this very difficult time. Please stop by L102 during your lunch period today.

STUDENTS: It is time for the Mr. Maine West competition to begin.  Nominations for your favorite Maine West guy begin TODAY.  Does he have school spirit?  Does he have great character and integrity?  Does he represent Maine West well? Then HE should be the next Mr. Maine West. Nominate any Maine West guy today and tomorrow during your lunch period for the Mr. Maine West competition. Only one nomination is needed to be in the running.

STUDENTS:  Student Council's Annual Canned Food Drive starts Next week October 31st until November 9th. First period teachers please check your emails as the process has changed. Students, please bring your cans for the Des Plaines Food Pantry. The 1st period class with the most points wins a gourmet breakfast.

Attention goblins, ghouls, ghosts, zombies, princesses and all Halloween celebrants! The LRC is having a COSTUME CONTEST. Come to the LRC ANYTIME on Monday, October 31 and get your picture taken for our Instagram account (@mwlibrary), then get your friends to "like" your photo. Whoever gets the most likes WINS a $25 Amazon gift card.

STUDENTS:  Pass/Fail forms will be available from today through November 4 in the Student Services Office, Room B102. Forms are due Friday, November 4, 2016.

STUDENTS:  Tryouts for the warriorettes dance team are todayat 3:30 in the dance room. Be sure to register online and turn in your physical the athletic office. Your physical must by turned into the athletic office to be eligible for tryouts. If you have further questions, please see coach Marchionna.

SENIORS: Herff Jones will be here to take orders for graduation announcements and senior products including class rings on Friday during lunch periods outside the cafeteria. If you did not complete the cap and gown measurements form during lunch periods on October 21, you can complete the measurement form this Friday or you can come to the main office anytime this week. NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED, you already paid for a cap and gown.  Senior packets are available in the main office if you did not receive one. JAZZ BAND:  Auditions for the Maine West Jazz Band are on Tuesday, November 8th.  Come to the band room to pick up an audition packet and sign up for a time.  Looking for saxes, trumpets, trombones, guitar, base, piano and drums. Head to for more information.

3D INNOVATIONS CLUB: We are meeting after school today in D106 from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm.

MOVIE CLUB:  We will be meeting Friday after school in L101.  Movie club will celebrate the Halloween season with the original "Ghostbusters" from 1984. They ain't afraid of no ghost.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Girls basketball will have their final open gym today from 3:30-5:30 pm in B wing. Also if you are planning on trying out on October 31, please register on 8 to 18 and have your physical completed before Monday. You will not be allowed to try out without having this completed.

GYMNASTICS:  Interested in gymnastics? Last week of open gym is November 1-4 in A-wing gym. Tryouts are November 7.  Please register on 8 to18 and have an up-to-date physical to be eligible to try-out.  Please contact Coach Harrison if you are still in a fall sport and unable to attend. Gymnastics start November 7 at 4:00 pm in A-wing gym.

WRESTLING:  Wrestling starts on November 7th. There will be a pre-season wrestling meeting on Monday, October 31st right after school in the Little Theatre (L101).
