CONGRATULATIONS:  Congratulations to Anna Remus, Ben Heim, and Vincent Wong for making the District 7 Illinois Music Education Association Honor Choir, Band, and Orchestra ensembles. Students auditioned last week and were chosen from over 50 high schools in the area.

STUDENTS:  Today is the day! See the Fall Play Sci-Fi adventure, A Wrinkle in Time, starting TODAY at 4 pm right after school in the theatre.  Come see your friends and be the first to see this story before it comes out as a new Disney Feature Film.  Only 3 chances to see it. TODAY at 4 pm and this Friday and Saturday at 7pm.

STUDENTS AND STAFF:  The Varsity Club's annual Taffy Apple sale is today and tomorrow. Please look for a Varsity Club member to purchase your Taffy Apples.

SENIORS: Please go to the bookstore to order your senior t-shirt. $12 for a short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve.

POKEMON GO CLUB:  We will meet right after school on Friday October 14th to talk about the field trip. Meet in room A204.

3D INNOVATIONS:  Inviting all philomaths - future engineers, scientists, mechanics, designers, manufacturers and problem solvers who would like to explore 3-D technology.  Anyone who is excited to learn, share, teach and create can join the 3-D Innovations Club. No experience in technology is necessary - just an insatiable curiosity and the willingness to make a difference.  We are meeting today in D106 from 3:30-4:30 pm.

DECA MEMBERS:  We are meeting tomorrow before school from 7:10-7:40 am. We will be finalizing your role play event choices and discussing important information about written events. If anyone still wants to join DECA, please come to our meeting Friday morning. We are happy to welcome new DECA members.

KEY CLUB:  We will meet Thursday at 7:00 am in L101 and at 3:30 pm in C101.

PI SIGMA PI:  We will be taking our yearbook photo at our first post-election meeting on Friday at 7:00 am in C210.  Be prepared to share any ideas you have about field trips or other activities we can do throughout the year.

FASHION AND COSMETOLOGY CLUB:  With Halloween right around the corner, the Fashion and Cosmetology Club will feature demo's and tutorials on special effects make-up at our next meeting. Please join us after school today in C108. Bring your own make up palettes and brushes and if you happen to have special effects makeup, bring that too.

IT'S A STITCH: If you crochet or would like to learn please come and join It's A Stitch club today at 3:30 in room A114.

MOVIE CLUB:  Movie Club will be meeting Friday after school, in L101, the little theater. Movie club will be starting the Halloween season with the movie "1408", where the Dolphin Hotel invites you to stay in any of its stunning rooms. Except one. Don't stay in 1408.

MATH TEAM:  The first IML math contest is on Tuesday, October 18th before school in room A201.  Anyone interested in math and challenging problems is encouraged to attend. You can start any time between 6:45 AM and 7:10 AM.  You will have 30 minutes to work on the problems once you begin. If you have questions about the IML contest ask your math teacher.

BOYS:  If you happened to miss the Guys Orchesis meeting, it is not too late. Please see or email Mrs. Jacob or Mrs. Claus today.  We will add you to the list for our first rehearsal next Monday.

YOGA CLUB:  Yoga Club will meet Tuesdays beginning next week after school at 3:30 pm in room C200A. We will practice yoga in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Learn how to control your emotions and meet new friends. We will stretch our bodies and our minds while we change the things we can. Contact Katie Petersen to let her know if you are interested.

You can always look ahead to see who is scheduled to visit Maine West by checking the CRC website. Juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend these information sessions. Be sure to pick up a College Visitor Pass from the CRC if you have a class and have it signed by your teacher.

Thursday is also FAFSA Day in the CRC. Come in to get help on your FAFSA or ask questions about scholarships and financial aid.

Also, Thursday night there will be a Financial Aid Program for Seniors and their Parents at 7 PM in L101. An informational session will be held to explain the financial aid process and the FAFSA.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

BOYS BASKETBALL: Registration for boys' basketball is now open. You can access the online registration by visiting the boys' basketball website or by visiting the Maine West Athletics website. All registration forms are due by Monday, October 31st. If you have not completed the registration process, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TRYOUT. Check out the boys' basketball website for upcoming workouts, open gyms, and everything that is Maine West Boys' Basketball.

The Boys Varsity soccer team is on a 5 game unbeaten streak. On Tuesday night, they beat Von Steuben HS by the score of 3 to nothing. Goal scorers were Dennis Gaitan, Charlie Madrigal and Emerson Herrera. Jason Ybarra notched another 2 assists, putting him at 8 for the season. Dean Hernandez and the defense earned their 5th shutout of the season. The Warriors play their last regular season game tonight at 6pm. It is senior night. Let's honor Brant, Charlie, George and Nico for their dedication to the soccer program.
