This year's V-Show, "Breaking the News" opens Thursday in the MW Auditorium. Come check out our AMAZING talent; we've got magic tricks, acrobatics, dancing and more. Performances run Thursday, November 3 at 4 pm and Friday and Saturday at 7 pm. Tickets are $7 or $5 with a can food donation to a local food pantry. Don't miss the most anticipated event of the year.

STUDENTS:  Student Council's Annual Canned Food Drive starts today until November 9th. First period teachers please check your emails as the process has changed. Students, please bring your cans for the Des Plaines Food Pantry. The 1st period class with the most points wins a gourmet breakfast.

STUDENTS:  The LRC is having a COSTUME CONTEST. Come to the LRC ANYTIME today and get your picture taken for our Instagram account (@mwlibrary), then get your friends to "like" your photo. Whoever gets the most likes WINS a $25 Amazon gift card.

STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS:  Please pick up your Student Council t-shirt in the bookstore today and wear it to our meeting on Tuesday. We will be taking our yearbook picture. If you did not order a t-shirt, please wear white for the picture. Our meeting will be Tuesday, November 1st at 7:10 in A201. Please be prompt.  We are taking our picture at the beginning of the meeting.

SENIORS:  Herff Jones will be here to take orders for graduation announcements and senior products including class rings on Wednesday during lunch periods outside the cafeteria. If you have not completed the cap and gown measurement, you can complete the measurement form Wednesday or you can come to the main office anytime this week. NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED, you already paid for a cap and gown. Senior packets are available in the main office if you did not receive one. JAZZ BAND:  Auditions for the Maine West Jazz Band are on Tuesday, November 8th.  Come to the band room to pick up an audition packet and sign up for a time.  Looking for saxes, trumpets, trombones, guitar, base, piano and drums. Head to mwbands.com for more information.

DECA MEMBERS: Please attend our meeting before school this Thursday, November 4th at 7:10 am in Room D112 to receive important information about competition and our upcoming fundraiser. Also, this is a reminder that your Written Event Selection form is due by 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 31. See the DECA website for the link to the form.

HISPANIC CLUB:  On Wednesday we will be celebrating the Day of the Dead in H106 after school. Everyone is welcome.

KEY CLUB:  Key club is meeting Friday, November 4 at 7:00 am in room C101 and again at 3:30 in room L101.

IT'S A STITCH:  It's a stitch is meeting Thursday in room A114 after school.

COLLEGE AND CAREER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Seniors, College Deadlines are upon us. Be sure to check the application deadlines for your schools!! Many colleges have early action or priority deadlines in November and/or December. These deadlines can also impact your eligibility for scholarships!! Get your applications in on time.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

BADMINTON:  Badminton open gym begin this Friday, November 4th in Spec gym at 6:00 am. Wear appropriate clothing and gym shoes. We supply the rackets. Grab a friend and come play anytime between 6 and 7:20 in the morning. Check out the badminton website for a list of all open gym dates.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tryouts for girls basketball are today. Please fill out the form on 8 to 18, have your physical completed and come dressed in shorts and basketball shoes for tryout.

GYMNASTICS:  Interested in gymnastics? Last week of open gym is November 1-4 in A-wing gym. Tryouts are November 7.  Please register on 8 to18 and have an up-to-date physical to be eligible to try-out.  Please contact Coach Harrison if you are still in a fall sport and unable to attend. Gymnastics start November 7 at 4:00 pm in A-wing gym.

WRESTLING:  Wrestling starts on November 7th. There will be a pre-season wrestling meeting on Monday, October 31st right after school in the Little Theatre (L101).
